The Art Auction

By Sally Pudney on 29th October 2019

Yesterday I delivered this painting Fingringhoe Wick: August, to Reeman Dansie auctioneers!

Fingringhoe Wick: August

This coming Saturday there is an art auction taking place at Firstsite, Lewis Gardens, High Street, Colchester CO1 1JH. It has been organised by Esther Feltham to raise money for the Colchester Hospital Cancer Centre Campaign and for St Helena Hospice. Along with twenty nine other artists I have donated a painting to the auction. Some of the donating artists will be familiar to those of you who have followed me since the Lexden Arts Festival days, as we exhibited their work then – Elizabeth Morris, James Dodds and Richard Hayward. And if you came to this summer’s exhibition at the Haylett’s Gallery you may remember the work of Heidi Jukes.

On October 19th three years ago I was diagnosed with cancer, and in three weeks time I will have my final check up and, all being well, will be ‘signed off’! I had excellent care from Colchester Hospital, particularly from my consultant, Jonathan Evans Jones, and my Clinical Nurse Specialist, Mandy Green, which is why I chose to support this auction.

And why this painting? – I visited and painted this beautiful, peaceful place frequently in the months that I was recovering, so it seemed a suitable choice.

To find out more about the auction, buy tickets, view the donated art works, read about the artists and place bids go to www.theartauction.co.uk or ring 01206 796650
