Two new paintings

By Sally Pudney on 25th June 2021

If you follow me on Instagram you will know that over the last few months I have been singing with a quartet for some services in St George’s Church in Great Bromley, and St Mary’s Church in Little Bentley. I particularly enjoy going to Little Bentley because it is in such a lovely rural setting. A couple of weeks ago I arrived very early for a Saturday rehearsal in order to explore the footpath that leads around the back of the church. I’m very glad I did! This is the fourth painting in my Essex Paths & Bridleways series.

I’ve also been back to ‘my’ field! The rye, which was about eight inches high when I finished my Twelve Months in an Essex Field project in December, is now nearing harvest. I thought it would be good to finish off the project with one final painting!

I was standing on the little brick railway bridge for this one. It occurred to me while I was painting it that this is only a few feet from where I stood in January 2020 to do the very first painting!
